Enough is enough! This afternoon I had the TV on and watched advertisements for herpes medication, some kind of condom and/or cream that heightens orgasms, men singing about erectile dis-function, and a clitoral stimulator; all of this on ‘normal’ TV that children can watch after they get home from school. But, of course you will never see any kind of ad for any kind of tobacco because that is illegal, ‘attractive to children’, and ‘bad for you’. Not that I’m against erections, sex, or medicine, but there is a time and place for everything, right? Â
Â
Unfortunately, that is not the worst or most absurd part of my day. Tonight, the Brooksville City Council (near Tampa, FL) will consider an ordinance which will ban city employees from smoking or having any kind of nicotine in their system – yet, I’m not sure if those nannyists realize that nicotine is found in tomatoes and eggplants too! Regardless, this kind of anti-smoker and anti-tobacco bigotry is LEGAL! And that is SHAMEFUL! Undoubtedly, fat and/or other unhealthy people are next on the list for employment discrimination. And they wont be able to say they didn’t see it coming. We told you so! Remember, no one is free while others are oppressed!

A VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Mayor Bradburn;
I am writing to express concern over your desire to ban employees who use tobacco from employment in your city. Individuals are allowed to use legal products on their own time and it should remain that way in America. Otherwise, what is next? Will people who drink alcohol, ‘get sun’, and overweight people be banned from employment next? It is a despicable notion that you can ban people from working because you do not support their personal or lifestyle choices. And it is not substantiated by the false premise that these people ‘cost the system’ more, because smokers are now contributing more to healthcare and other government services than they consume. Bigotry towards tobacco users must stop now.
Did you know that tomatoes, eggplant, and bell peppers contain nicotine? Or that the National Cancer Institutes Monograph No. 9 study shows people who smoke less than two cigars a day have no increased mortality over non-smokers? I sincerely hope that you will withdraw your desire to punish smokers and tobacco users, as there should be no room in American society for intolerance or the deprivation of liberty.
